OP Choir Update April #1

April 9, 2018

Good morning and welcome back from break!

Topics For This Update:

  • Spring Concert (ALL CHOIRS)

  • IGSMA State Festival (7th & 8th Grade)

  • Elementary Tour (7th & 8th Grade)

  • LTHS - Into the Woods (8th Grade)

  • Extracurricular Schedule (All Choirs)

  • Variety Show (Anyone!)

Spring Concert (ALL CHOIRS)

All choir students—the next concert is Tuesday, May 15th at Lockport East Township High School. Please be aware that this is changed from the original date of Monday, May 14th. Students will be bused from Oak Prairie to the high school after school in order to put together choreography for the concert. They will be given pizza for dinner (or may bring food/have food delivered to them). Students will be wearing OP Bulldog Choir T-Shirts and jeans for this performance, so please make sure they have this shirt available.

The performance starts at 7pm. Hope to see you there!

IGSMA State Festival (7th & 8th)

Congratulations to the 7th & 8th Grade Choirs and Hi-C for each earning Division I on their performances at the District Festival Contest and qualifying to perform at the State Festival! Thank you all parents for supporting the students in the IGSMA events, and a special thanks to the parents who volunteered to help out!

All 7th & 8th Grade Choir students are expected to perform as this is the culmination of months of hard work, rehearsal and outside practice. The track coaches already know that students in 7th & 8th Grade Choir will be unavailable for the track meet that day and will not schedule students for events. This is the only conflict that we have with a performance and a meet.

Parents, here are the following details for State Festival:

Date: Saturday, April 28th, 2018

Place: Joliet West HS, 401 N. Larkin Ave.Joliet, IL 60435

Attire: “Dressy” white top and black bottom—boys should wear white dress shirts, not just a T-shirt!

Depart from Oak Prairie: 11:30am (due to downtown Lockport construction)

7th & 8th Grade Warm-Up (Stage A): 12:55-1:15pm

7th & 8th Grade Performance (Stage A): 1:20-1:50pm

Hi-C Warm-Up (Stage B): 2:40pm-3:00pm

Hi-C Performance (Stage B): 3:05-3:35pm

Estimated return to Oak Prairie: 4:00pm

If your student is NOT in Hi-C, they do not have to stay and watch the performances and can be picked up at 1:50pm. If they choose to stay, please be aware that we will not all be bused back until Hi-C has finished performing. If students opt to leave after their performance, they must let me know via the permission slip (click). This permission slip is due back to me on Tuesday, April 17th.

Elementary Tour - April 13th (7th & 8th)

7th & 8th Grade Choirs will be going to Ludwig School with 7th & 8th Grade Bands this Friday, April 13th to perform for the 4th and 5th graders. Students will be leaving around 8:00am for a 9am performance and will be back to school by 10:15am for the start of 4th period.

LTHS - Into the Woods (8th)

The Porter Players at Lockport Township High School have invited students to a viewing of their performance of their spring musical, Into the Woods, on May 8th, 2018. Students would leave for the school around 9:30am and return at approximately 1:30pm. Permission slips will be handed out next week.

Extracurricular Schedule This Week April 9th-April 13th (All Choirs)

Tuesday 2:30-3:30pm Hi-C Rehearsal

Wednesday 2:30-4:00pm Drama Club (new members are always welcome!)

Thursday 2:30-3:30pm Bulldog Boys Choir Rehearsal

Variety Show (May 24th)

The Variety Show this year will be after school on May 24th. It will begin at 2:45pm and go until a time TBA. Further updates will be announced once everyone turns in their performance proposals. You can sign up and submit a video sample of a performance here (click) if interested. If you have any questions, you can ask me, Mrs. Rainaldi, Ms. Korienek, Mrs. Cusack, or Mrs. Mascolino.

As always, thank you for your support of the music program at Oak Prairie!

Sincerely,

Miss T.
